For a week I crossed these bridges that I cross almost daily, accompanied by a dense fog that felt like a gap between reality and infinity. I felt my willingness to suspend disbelief allowed me to slow down in heavy traffic, roll down my windows, and breathe in the thick foggy air that separated me from Earth. It was so dense that I couldn’t see beyond the metal frame of the bridges. New Orleans could have been on the other side of the planet. Maybe it was even further than that because I was in infinite space, and infinity is far to travel through.
This experience has given me inspiration for a future project I hope to work on next year. Until then, I have made this illustrated poem to remind me of this realm and the feelings it brought up for me. When viewing and listening to this piece, I hope the viewer can also allow for the magic of such a place.
